President Yoon Suk Yeol is pardoning a total of one-thousand-two-hundred-19 people to mark National Liberation Day this coming Thursday.
Earlier on this Tuesday his cabinet approved the list which included former Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Kim Kyoung-soo whose rights have been restored effectively paving his path back to politics.
Kim is an opposition party figure earlier convicted of internet manipulation to support former President Moon Jae-in’s election in 2017.
Pundits believe his return to politics may fuel an internal power struggle within the main opposition Democratic Party.
